Sony Sues Geohot, Fail0ver for PlayStation 3 / PS3 Jailbreak !

Sony has just filed legal suit against Geohot aka George Hotz, an infamous PS3 and iPhonehacker and other members of team fail0verflow (27C3 lecturers Marcan, Sven and 100 John Does) for jailbreaking the Sony Playstation 3.

Geohot

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) filed a Complaint against Defendants George Hotz, Hector Martin Cantero, Sven Peter and Doe Defendants 1 through 100. SCEA has alleged that each Defendant, circumvented effective technological protection measures (TPMs) employed by SCEA to protect against unauthorized access to and/or copying of Sony PlayStation 3, and other copyrighted works, encryption and/or decryption keys, dePKG firmware decrypter program, Signing Tools, 3.55 Firmware Jailbreak, and/or any other technologies that enable unauthorized access to and/or copying of PS3 Systems and other copyrighted works.
Sony cites violations of Digital Millennium Copyright Act, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act including various copyright infringements. A temporary restraining order has also been sought, asking that all “circumvention tools” be taken offline and his computers and related media (i.e. anything storing said tools) be impounded.
Geohot has been instrumental in the iPhone and PlayStation 3 console jailbreak scene. If anyone would like to offer him assistance you can find the Motion For TRO and Proposed Order.
