Finally ETA for iPhone 4 unlock on latest baseband has arrived. Musclenerd of Dev Team has confirmed that no unlock will be released until after iOS 4.2.5 or official iOS 4.3 (whichever is last) is out. The statement arrived after Verizon iPhone 4 was launched and Apple seeded iOS 4.3 beta few days back.
Those who don’t know Verizon iPhone 4 is sporting iOS 4.2.5 which is scheduled to hit the retail stores on 10th Feb. Users have to wait at least by February 10 (if Apple drops beta tag from iOS 4.3) for unlocking iPhone 4. Even the untethered jailbreak is said to arrive after Verizon iPhone 4 comes out, as confirmed by Comex few days back.
It seems that Dev Team do not want to waste their untethered jailbreak and unlock exploit and want to break into Verizon iOS 4.2.5, iOS 4.2.1, iOS 4.3 in addition to unlocking iPhone 4 on baseband 02.10.04, 03.10.01, 04.08.00. However, using Musclenerd’s backup plan, Redsn0w can be used that untethers iOS 4.2.1 JB for iPad, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4G, iPhone 3G, old BR iPhone 3GS, old BR iPod Touch 2G.
While we’re not sure about the exact ETA of untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak and iPhone 4, we do know that they are complete and will be pushed as soon iOS 4.3 publicly releases. So, please be patient!
