Synchronize your iPhone with iTunes Over 3G using Wi-Fi Sync 2.0 App

Wi-Fi Sync 2.0 for Mac has been released that sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with iTunes without having to tether. Developer Greg Hughes, updated the app to WiFi Sync 2.0, which now lets you synchronize your iPhone with iTunes using the remote 3G data connection or over a Wi-Fi network.

Say, you are in office and you want to sync your iPhone with Mac, which is at home; you can easily do it via Wi-Fi Sync 2.0 Cydia App without doing any configuration. Simple Isn’t?

After receiving humungous response, Greg earlier submitted Wi-Fi Sync to Appstore for approval, which was rejected by Apple amid security concerns. Since then, the Wi-Fi Sync iPhone app is now available on Cydia for $9.99 for jailbroken devices.
As of now WiFi Sync 2.0 Beta is made available to Mac. However, Greg is hard at work to release the app for Windows users. This won’t work unless you have previously purchased Wi-Fi Sync 1.1 from Cydia. If you purchase now, you will get automatic access to the beta.

How to Install WiFi Sync 2.0 Beta on iPhone

Step 1: Uninstall the previous Mac client (1.1a) first, if you have it installed. Download the uninstaller here.
Step 2: Add the following source to Cydia, and install the Wi-Fi Sync 2.0package: http://dl.wifisyncapp.com/apt
Step 3: Download the new Mac client from this link. It doesn’t come with an installer, so I recommend that you move it to the /Applications folder.

Important Notes:

  • WiFi Sync 2.0 Beta is not compatible with iPhone 2G and iOS 3.0
  • “Sync over 3G” functionality is not yet enabled in Beta.
  • Wi-Fi Sync won’t automatically start when your computer boots up. If you wish to enable this, there is an option in the menu (see the top right-hand corner of the screen). This option will probably be switched on by default soon.
  • Wi-Fi Sync must be running on your Mac before you launch iTunes. If you start iTunes and then start Wi-Fi Sync, you will need to restart iTunes if you want to wirelessly sync. For this reason it is wise to enable the automatic startup feature mentioned above.
We will update you once it is out for window.
